A winning formular for indoor vertical farming

Australian AgTech innovator, InvertiGro has won InnovationAus’ 2022 Award for Excellence in Food and AgriTech for its novel solution to help address increasingly pressing global food security and sustainability challenges.

Presented at a black-tie gala dinner in Sydney, supported and attended by industry leaders, Australian state and federal government, the annual InnovationAus Awards for Excellence celebrate the translation of innovation into commercial and social impact outcomes; recognising companies that are building and shaping industries of the future.

The hotly-contested Food and AgriTech category celebrated some of Australia’s best and brightest companies across the spectrum of food processing and production: from farm-based sensors and robotics to plant-based meats. It was, however, InvertiGro’s productive and sustainable way of addressing global food security issues and the growing impact of climate change on the agricultural sector, that took the title.

InvertiGro has developed a game-changing ‘plug-and-play’ indoor vertical farming solution that can help reduce food miles, waste and packaging; agricultural run-offs and chemical-use whilst growing with less land and water, independent of climate and its extremes.

Crop and industry agnostic, these uniquely flexible modular grow systems are capable of growing microgreens and leafy greens, mushrooms and medicinal plants; soft-fruits, flowers, fodder and more; and are suitable for applications across industries and throughout the food supply chain: from on-farm to in-store.

“We are very proud to be helping to address some of the most pressing global food challenges and enable a more secure and sustainable fresh food future with our technology. It is therefore a huge honour, and very humbling, for our game-changing farming solutions to receive this highly competitive award.” says CoFounder and CoCEO, Ben Lee.

The InnovationAus award follows hot on the heels of a collection of other significant achievements for InvertiGro with the company recently also taking out the Australian Technologies Competition for their innovative approach and contribution to Supply Chain Resilience. Meanwhile, InvertiGro’s partnership with Woolworths, to deliver Australia’s first in-supermarket vertical farms also saw the company recognised as a finalist on the global stage with the Vertical Farming World Awards for Best Retail Innovation.

“It is a real honour to be able to close out the year with this incredible international and industry endorsement of our technology that we are now bringing to life with customers around the globe” says InvertiGro CoFounder and CoCEO, Paul Millett “These awards are very timely validation of our solutions as InvertiGro is currently raising Series A funding whilst working with customers from Sydney to Saudia Arabia to simply and affordably address global food security and sustainability issues”.
